Some of the retreats offered are solo-led by me, while others I will co-lead with Kathy Izard through Women, Faith & Story.

There are very few places as magical as the historic Kingsbrae Garden in the charming seaside town of St. Andrews. Caroline Simas fell in love with this place when she was selected as a 2022 Artist in Resident and now, you are invited to join her and author Kathy Izard for your own creative Canadian adventure!
Each day, Caroline and Kathy will be weaving together their magical combination of art and writing. You don’t have to consider yourself an artist or an author to attend—just a sense of curiosity to explore new things. We might be trying our paints to capture the just beginning to bloom gardens or walking out to the sea to discover what might be whispering into our journals.
By day we will be painting and writing and, at night, enjoying fabulous dinners with women who, like you, have come to relax and have a great time.
We’ve been known to have a little castle contest, try some writing by moonlight, take a wonder walk in the gardens and have a dance party or two. Our retreats are starting to have a dedicated following so don’t miss your chance to see what Kinsgbrae Garden might have waiting for you to bloom!

Many of you know I led a retreat in Tuscany in the fall with La Cucina Sabina-an authentic culinary and cultural vacation company. We have created a single villa-based vacation to experience both luxurious comfort and convenience which is located in Sorrento overlooking the Amalfi coast! This is a foodie/creative’s dream which combines food, cooking, culture, wine tastings, touring, shopping, picturesque excursions, art and adventure into an experience of a lifetime! Whether your cooking interests are hands-on with a Michelin Star Chef, observing and learning to make pasta, pastries or even limoncello with a local cook, or simply enjoying delicious Italian food and great wines, we have created an exceptional experience for you.
Join Charlotte, NC artist Caroline Simas and LaCucina Sabina on the Amalfi Coast for an incredible culinary and creative retreat! You'll stay in the stunning Villa Sabrina - strategically located in Capo di Sorrento with panoramic views of the Gulf of Naples, Mt Vesuvius, and the islands of Ischia and Procida. The villa is surrounded by three acres of park and gardens, has 9 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and an infinity pool.

Caroline will provide all art materials for each guest. No art experience necessary- promise! Most of Caroline’s workshop and retreat attendees have not painted since elementary school) There will be an art prompt each day and we will have an “Art Buffet” table set up at the villa to gather and create when we are not out touring. We will learn to paint and create mixed media collages of things we are inspired by on the Amalfi Coast. (Lemons, landscapes, boats, food, wine, etc)
